Shurgard welcomes 100,000th customer in Europe (26 februari 2010)
Brussels, February 24, 2010 – Shurgard welcomed its 100,000th customer in Europe at its Amsterdam branch in the Netherlands where it has been offering storage space for over ten years. European Marketing Director Frank Boot: “We provide a solution to the fast-growing demand for storage in Europe and despite the current crisis are still expecting an increase in customer numbers.”
A lack of storage room is a universal problem, and Shurgard Self Storage offers provisional or permanent solutions for everyone who needs it. Frank Boot expects the increase in demand to continue in the near future: “The fact that Shurgard has just welcomed its 100,000th customer supports our conviction that our business model will continue to be successful. According to this model, people have the freedom to decide how much storage room they need and for how long.” At Shurgard, customers can rent storage space from a period of one week up to several years. Electronically secured access is available throughout Europe seven days a week, and only the individual tenant has access to his or her personal belongings during this time.
Self storage offers solutions for modern living
With the help of Shurgard, customers can clear out their homes and store their belongings in the interim period. This is why a Shurgard branch could be described as a ‘goods hotel’ which provides people with more space in which to work or live.
Items such as garden furniture or Christmas decorations can be stored in a self-storage room. Furthermore, changes in someone’s private life can result in an immediate need for storage room: for example the birth of a baby, the inheritance of a house full of furniture, or the renovation of one’s own home. Self-storage also offers opportunities for entrepreneurs, since commercial space can often be very expensive and dictated by long-term contracts. By selecting self-storage, the storage costs become flexible and additional costs can be avoided.
Opting for a storage space room at Shurgard, means you can stipulate the exact number of square metres required at the best price available and can also discuss with the store manager how much space is needed. This means that customers only pay for the square metres they effectively use and can choose to switch to larger or smaller storage if necessary, thereby ensuring flexibility. Shurgard also offers a large range of packing materials to assist you in safely transporting your belongings.
Shurgard Europe is the largest developer, owner, and operator of self storage centres in Europe with more than 188 stores across 7 European countries: France, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark and Germany. Shurgard is one of the pioneers of the self storage concept in Europe and has worked successfully to build customer awareness and acceptance of self storage across Europe. Shurgard’s European network caters for more than 100,000 consumers and has at its disposal more than 900,000 square metres of storage space available for hire.
